Setting up SAP Web GUI

SAP Web GUI – Overview and Usage in Data Extraction Projects

What is SAP Web GUI?

The SAP Web GUI (SAP Web Graphical User Interface) is the web-based interface for SAP systems. It allows users to execute SAP transactions directly in their web browser, eliminating the need to install the classic SAP GUI desktop application.

Why should you use the SAP Web GUI URL in Projects?

When setting up data extraction and configuring the SAP connection, you can specify a SAP Web GUI URL. This URL acts as a central point for the entire project and is used across multiple dashboards. By providing this URL, users can easily access individual SAP documents directly from the PowerBI Dashboards, without additional effort of searching for the specific item.

How to Configure

To enable this functionality, enter your SAP Web GUI URL during the SAP connection setup:

Example: https://mySAP.com:44300

Required SAP transaction codes:

In order to access the desired documents, the auditor requires specific SAP rights. These rights include access to the following SAP transaction codes:

  • FB03: Display accounting documents
  • ME53: Display purchase requisitions
  • ME23: Display purchase orders
  • VL03: Display deliveries
  • VA03: Display sales orders
  • VF03: Display billing documents

Make sure that all relevant users have the necessary authorizations to carry out these transactions.

Important Notes

Ensure that your client device has access to the provided SAP Web GUI URL. If you encounter any issues accessing the SAP Web GUI, please contact your SAP administrator for assistance.
