Setup Guide Document Intelligence

Setup of Microsoft Azure Document Intelligence

Azure Document Intelligence is a cloud-based Optical Character Recognition (OCR) service from Microsoft Azure that uses AI to extract fields, text, and data from documents and forms. It identifies keys, values, and tables, providing structured data with preserved relationships, allowing quick and accurate information extraction without manual work or data science expertise. Azure Document Intelligence typically performs better than general-purpose multimodal AI models such as GPT o3 or similar for zapliance analysis tasks.

Customer and zapliance Azure Setup Options

Azure services can be set up either at the customer's site or via the zapliance Azure tenant. If the customer chooses to use their own Azure services, zapliance requires access to the API and endpoints of the customer's Azure environment.

If the zapliance Azure tenant is used, no further setup of Azure services is required from the customer. All analyses will be monitored by zapliance.

After the project ends, the endpoints can be deactivated or the corresponding Azure resources can be deleted.

Seamless Document Analysis with zapAnalytics and SAP

By integrating document analysis, zapAnalytics can directly retrieve document attachments (such as PDF, PNG, JPG or email files) from the SAP Archive (GOS or ArchiveLink), apply OCR via Azure Document Intelligence for a streamlined analysis process. This provides users with a more efficient and accurate way to identify and address potential issues, including duplicate payments, input tax discrepancies, and other document-related topics.
