zapHome Deployment Scenarios

Learn about the different ways to deploy zapliance solutions

We provide two flexible deployment paths to integrate zapliance solutions into your IT infrastructure, depending on your specific hardware environment and scaling requirements:

  1. Container Engine on Virtual Machine / Server (Linux)
  2. Kubernetes

In both scenarios, our solutions remain strictly self-hosted in your IT environment. This ensures that you always maintain full control over your data. zapliance is not a SaaS provider; your data is never hosted by us or stored in our cloud. We do not have access to your data or IT infrastructure.

1. Docker on Virtual Machine / Server (Linux)

This is the most common setup for customers who want a straightforward, dedicated environment.

  • How it works: We provide our solution as container images. You can host these on a virtual machine (VM) or a physical server running a modern Linux distribution.

  • Container engines: We recommend a deployment via Docker. Alternatively, Podman can be used, depending on your internal IT standards and security requirements.

  • Best for: Small to medium-sized deployments or environments where simple maintenance is preferred.

Please consult this article for the technical requirements when setting up the VM or server.

To get started with Docker, see this setup guide.

2. Kubernetes

For organizations that already use orchestration tools, our agents can be deployed directly into an existing Kubernetes (K8s) cluster.

  • How it works: The agents are managed as pods within your cluster, allowing centralized resource management.

  • Service options: This method is compatible with managed services in your IT infrastructure (like Azure Kubernetes Service, Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service, or Google Kubernetes Engine) as well as self-managed clusters.

  • Best for: Enterprise environments with high-performance requirements and existing K8s infrastructure.

Kubernetes clusters are as unique as the organizations that use them. To ensure a seamless rollout in your specific setting, we offer tailored integration support for K8s deployments. Our team will provide guidance during your onboarding to ensure a robust setup.

Note: Proof of Value projects

For small-scale Proof of Value (PoV) projects, a local deployment using Docker Desktop on a Windows-based notebook may be an option, depeding on your organization's IT and security regulations. This approach must be discussed with zapliance beforehand to ensure a successful PoV.
