Securing email connections with TLS

Using TLS for securing the email connection is the best way of making sure that the communication between zapliance and our customer is safe.

Transport Layer Security (TLS) is a cryptographic protocol making end-to-end communication encrypted and more secure.

This means the communication of both mail servers of both parties are searching and comparing for an identical TLS cipher until it finds one on which both parties can agree. Once the connection is encrypted, all data sent through that connection is sent through the encrypted channel. The encryption itself is treated with a security certificate which both mail hosting parties will have to provide.

To communicate with customers Zapliance uses the highest standard provided by Microsoft. In general, public mail hosting providers like Microsoft or Google are already using the highest TLS version by default.
